Following her passion for using yoga to help all members of the Southampton community, in 2011 Meeta Raichura set up the class in this beautiful church hall in order to introduce her style of yoga to the residents of Portswood and Highfield.
The classes are always well attended with a warm and friendly atmosphere.
Meeta's classic classes are suitable for all abilities. Both experienced and beginner yoga practitioners are catered for by her skilled and attentive teaching style. She will show you how to get the most out of your yoga practice by adjusting your posture and giving clear and simple instruction throughout the class.
Classes are dynamic and physical - great for strengthening the muscles, creating flexibility in the limbs, regulating hormones, improving concentration and increasing energy levels.
Regular practice can help you lose weight, improve posture and address respiratory issues such as asthma.
At the same time, many yogis use this class simply as a wonderful way to unwind after a stressful day at work!
In this video class members give some feedback to Meeta. They were very positive about her teaching and told us about the many physical, mental and energetic benefits they have experienced since taking up her classes ..
A highly skilled and very popular yoga teacher since 2005, Meeta owns her own Yoga Studio in Upper Shirley (just a 5-minute walk from Southampton Common) and, catering for popular demand has also expanded to run classes in several health clubs and community halls across the city.
Meeta first experienced Yoga as a child in Tanzania. Many years of personal practice coupled with a very strong family background has given her an amazingly balanced and positive approach to life. Many of her students say that in class they feel that she connects with them in a way that they never felt with other teachers and that this enriches their personal experience on the mat.
Meeta enjoys spending time with her grown-up daughter, doing work for charity, Social cookery, and of course - practising yoga.
Meeta's classic Hatha Yoga Classes are held in the church hall at the Church of the Immaculate Conception,
Southampton SO17 3SB
Note that the hall is situated to the rear of the church and there is ample (and free!) parking on Belgrave Road.
